Lanterns is a night installation that pairs the hand and the machine. From interactive water-floating lanterns to tree-hanging laser cut lantern boxes, nature, technology, and art merge to create a secret garden.
We connected multiple LittleBits wiring and LED lights in mason jars to a portable and wireless pressure sensor using the cloud bit. When applying more pressure, the LED lights change colors (to red) and when applying less pressure they turn back to green and blue. The laser cut lanterns were designed in illustrator and implemented on cherry wood. More of the process can be seen in my blog.
A collaboration with Audrey Vaughan and Maddy Webster. December 2014.
